Post Office
Locator The next time you're hurrying
to get a package in the mail but don't know where to send it from, use Post
Office Locator to find the nearest post office. Hey, there might be one closer
to you than you thought.
Traffic-Ticket.com
Say it with innocence this time: "Hi, officer. Does there seem to
be a problem?" If you live in, say, Maine, but get busted by a speed trap in,
uh, Miami (yeah, that’s the ticket), you may want to track down a Floridian
traffic lawyer at Traffic-Ticket.com. A little local knowledge can help the
wheels of justice turn more smoothly. Search by state and county to locate
lawyers specializing in traffic cases. The site includes pointers to information
on speeding regulations and auto insurance regulations by state or Canadian
province.
State and Local
Government on the Net Even if you're a
hardened member of a paramilitary group, someday you'll need to deal with your
local government, whether it's to gripe about a tax bill or to seek disaster
aid. That's a good reason to bookmark State and Local Government on the Net, a
comprehensive list of pointers to local-government Web sites. Next time you find
yourself in a declared disaster area, it'll be easy to find your state
department of transportation (to check road conditions) or office of emergency
services (to find shelter).
FindLaw for
The Public
These days, everything you want to do—from buying a house to
drawing up a will—is bound to involve a lawyer. If you need to find a lawyer or
increase your legal knowledge, start out at FindLaw for The Public, a legal
portal for the average person. Search by location and area of practice to get a
shyster of your very own, or just check out the legal guides by topic, in case
you're getting evicted or drawing up a will or planning to adopt.
